WFLO Institute

The WFLO Institute is the premiere training ground for the refrigerated warehousing industry. Since its establishment in 1965, The Institute has trained thousands of warehousing and distribution professionals in all facets of temperature-controlled logistics. Through a unique three-year program featuring three and a half days of instruction each year, the Institute provides industry personnel with the knowledge and competency to boost job performance and increase a company’s bottom line.

Why Should You and Your Staff Attend?

From an Executive’s Perspective…

“USCS executive management looks at employee completion of The Institute as something of a prerequisite for moving up within the ranks of our company”

David M. Harlan, President & CEO

United States Cold Storage Company

From a Student’s Perspective…

“As a new Manager, The Institute has given me the knowledge and confidence I needed to be successful.”

Dan Poarch, Plant Manager

Merchants Terminal Corporation

The Institute offers thirty-seven classes in seven professional tracks – Facilities Management, Finance and Productivity, Food Science/Food Safety, Human Resources, Logistics Management, Risk Management, and Warehouse Technology. These courses are led by Faculty at the top of their field. Each Faculty member is an active industry expert with a passion for sharing knowledge and experience.

Students come from every professional area: operations, administration, human resources, engineering, construction, transportation, etc. They come to the Institute to enhance their individual specialty while developing a 360-degree understanding of their company and industry. Students earn Continuing Education Credits (CEUs), receive the industry’s finest textbook, and participate in the annual Excellence in Performance Seminar and Senior Executive Panel.

The Institute is one of the brightest benefits of IARW membership. Not only does the Institute provide the premiere training in our industry, it is regarded as a flagship training program by other industries across the nation and around the world.

Excellence in Performance Seminar

Each year the Institute features an Excellence in Performance Seminar for participants from all three years. Timothy Egan, Director of Warehousing for McCain Foods USA, will lead the 2008 Excellence in Performance Seminar. Egan will guide over 300 participants through a candid discussion of how McCain and other food customers view the PRW industry and what services they expect from their refrigerated logistics providers. This seminar will give students a powerful education in customer service and successful facility operation.

Senior Executive PanelSenior Executive Panel

The Institute features a panel of senior warehouse officials who share their outlooks and perspectives on the PRW industry and answer questions from participants. This is the only place to learn from industry leaders how they got into the business, what they think about the latest trends, their outlook for the PRW industry, and even what mistakes they have made over the years.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

IACET CEUThe International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) has authorized WFLO to award CEUs to Institute participants.  CEU awards are based on class evaluation/assessment forms.  Participants who satisfactorily answer 70% of the questions will receive 2 CEUs.
